Omg, San Francesco's!! 🤩 Greatest veal sandwiches EVER!! 😊 They brought pizzas to my wedding ( 1998 ) .... unforgettable food, such a special place... 💖

.8h

John Batinovic

I only tried the pizza!!

.7h

Tracy Jenkins

John Batinovic Wasn't it amazing!! 💖 Darn, I miss it so much ....

.3h

Lu-Anne Murdoch Anderson

Tracy Jenkins I remember the veal sandwichs 🥪

.7h

Tracy Jenkins

Lu-Anne Murdoch Anderson Yes... I think they were the best in the city. Just my opinion, 'cos so many people also loved California's... which is where I now go! 😄 (and they are pretty awesome, as well, I must say... 😊) 💞

I love how you captured the streetcars at the same spot. And no more newspaper boxes

That old pic brings back so many good memories

My good friend and I worked at 296 Richmond W during the day and when the CNE was on we'd go work there at night

During the 2 1/2 weeks of the EX we basically lived off San Francesco's

A slice and a sandwich each, a veal for him, sausage and peppers for me

Thank you, Avard!

.7h

Paul Bulas

The wooden poles with the wires, upper right and far away, seem to be the same ones.

Paul Bulas I thought so, too. Very long lasting. Must be made of hemlock.

.7h

Paul Bulas

Also, I think back in the day they were well coated in creosote.

.7h

Dustin Mayhew

Paul Bulas yea I do remember my dad telling me not to touch them cause of the creosote

I remember that large Papaya Hut on the corner left hand side with huge metal garbage cans on the wall with a sign on each one stating the flavours - And sawdust on the wooden floor - Later became a Pizza Pizza with the shiny metallic circles making up… See more

Thankfully most of the heritage assets situated on Elm are still intact today. I used to reside at 25 Elm, built by Cityhome in the early 80s, and really enjoyed living on the campus of my alma mater, Toronto Metropolitan University.

The closest building on the left wasn't yet a Pizza Pizza. When I moved up to Toronto a few years later, it was a Pizza Pizza. It closed about a year ago.
