We could still swim or wade in some of the creeks around Toronto when I was a kid. My husband said he even swam in the Humber river.

Amazing to see such a crowd of people swimming and picnicing at the Don. No contol over raw sewage in those days but far less of it.

They were smart back then to include transit even though the subway didn’t come for many years after
