Lebanon Israeli Strikes Strain Ceasefire Lebanon declared Thursday a day of mourning after the deadliest day of war, with the Lebanese Health Ministry reporting Israeli attacks killed 203 people on Wednesday, with more than 1,000 wounded across the country.
On Wednesday, the day after the U.S.-Iran ceasefire was declared, Israeli’s military escalated its campaign in Lebanon, targeting 100 locations in under 10 minutes. Israel is continuing its operations in south Beirut as well as southern and eastern Lebanon, issuing evacuation orders today as it warns of strikes.
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported strikes on the town of al-Abbassieh killed at least seven people and additional Israeli warplane strikes hit the towns of Kafra, Jmaijmeh, Safad al-Battikh, Majdal Selem, and Deir Antar. Israel also targeted crossings over the Litani River, saying they are part of the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia's infrastructure.
The U.S. and Israel say Lebanon was not included in the ceasefire agreement, however Iran considers the strikes on Lebanon a violation of the ceasefire agreement. To date, Israel’s assault on Lebanon has killed nearly 2,000 people and displaced more than a million.
