If you kill me, Jebe says, I'll only rot away in a plot of earth the size of your hand; but if you show mercy, I'll cut through oceans and mountains for you.

'He shall be named Jebe ['arrow-point'] and I will use him as my arrow.'

Jebe, Jelme, Subedei and Khubilai were raised on human flesh, they have

Foreheads of cast copper,

Chisels for snouts and

Awls for tongues

With hearts of iron and

Ships for swords they go,

Eating the dew and

Riding the wind.

Jebe (or Jebei, Mongolian: Зэв, Zev; birth name: Jirqo'adai (Modern Mongolian: Zurgadai), Mongolian: Зургаадай, Simplified Chinese: 哲别) (death: May 23, 1223)[1] was one of the most prominent Noyans (generals) of Genghis Khan.

He belonged to the Besud clan, part of the Taichud tribe, which was under Targudai Khiriltug's leadership at the time of Genghis Khan.[2]

Even though Jebe was originally an enemy soldier, Genghis Khan recruited him and turned him into one of his greatest generals. Jebe played an important role in helping to expand the territory of Genghis Khan's empire.

[3] Despite playing a large role as a general for Genghis Khan, there are relatively few sources or biographies about his life.

[4] Jebe has been described as "the greatest cavalry general in history" for his unorthodox and daring maneuvers.[5]
