Professor Green’s teaching and research interests include democratic theory, ancient and modern political philosophy, and contemporary social theory. His first book - The Eyes of the People: Democracy in an Age of Spectatorship (Oxford University Press, 2010) - pursues a novel model of democracy which, unlike dominant paradigms, understands the everyday citizen primarily as a spectator of politics rather than as a decision-maker. He has published articles in such journals as Political Theory, Philosophy & Social Criticism, Polis, and Philosophy & Theology. A Fulbright scholar, Green has taught at Harvard and at Gothenburg University in Sweden. During 2009-2010, he will participate as a Mellon Faculty Fellow at the Penn Humanities Forum.
